President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has announced that the salaries of administrative employees working in island councils will be increased from next month.

During his visit to Lhaviyani Atoll, the President said that the salary revision for civil servants will take effect in November as part of the government’s ongoing pay harmonisation programme. He noted that the adjustment reflects the hard work and dedication of council staff.

Under the new arrangement, all administrative employees working in island councils will be upgraded from class four to class one, resulting in higher pay. The revised salaries will be implemented from 1 November and paid at the end of the month.

The President also stated that the government plans to extend the harmonisation process to other state institutions next year, in line with efforts to ensure fair and consistent pay across the public sector.

He emphasised that the initiative aims to improve income levels and enhance the overall financial well-being of citizens.
