USD 20,000 and other items stolen from a site housing expatriates in Hulhumalé Phase 3 have been recovered and returned to the owner.
Police said today that around 2:40 AM last Friday night, while patrolling Hulhumalé Phase 2, they received information about a theft occurring at a site where expatriates live.
Upon receiving this information, police went to the site to investigate. They were informed that a bag had been stolen, which reportedly contained USD 20,000, along with other items, according to the police.
After receiving this information, as police were searching the area, they found the bag with the USD 20,000, along with wallets and other items, police said.
These items were found hidden among some bushes, according to the police. The items have now been returned to the owner, police said.
No arrests have been made in connection with this case, police said.
Police said they are continuing to investigate this case.
