STELCO has announced that it has planted more than 74,000 trees across the islands it serves, as part of the government’s nationwide “5 Million Trees” programme.

According to STELCO, a total of 74,282 trees were planted between 5 June and 20 November 2025. The company aims to plant 500,000 trees over the next five years in support of the government’s environmental pledge.

STELCO has set a monthly target of planting 9,200 trees and continues to carry out the initiative in both the Malé region and 30 other islands where it provides services.

The “5 Million Trees” programme was introduced under the pledge of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu, with the goal of planting five million trees across the Maldives within five years. STELCO remains a key partner in the effort to promote sustainability and environmental protection throughout the country.
