Fathuhulla Jameel Moosa, the Chief Magistrate of K. Guraidhoo Magistrate Court, has been suspended.

The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) said that they decided to suspend Fathuhulla for one month without pay following an investigation into a case related to him.

This decision was made at the 37th session of the commission held yesterday, the JSC stated.

However, the JSC did not disclose the nature of the case investigated regarding Fathuhulla Jameel.

The JSC also investigated a case involving Fathuhulla Jameel in 2023. That was a disciplinary case submitted to the commission alleging violation of the Criminal Procedure Act. However, the commission decided not to pursue that case later that year.

This suspension highlights the ongoing scrutiny of judicial conduct in the Maldives and the role of the JSC in maintaining the integrity of the judiciary.
