A man has been arrested for sexually abusing a 13-year-old girl while in a position of trust.

Police said the case was reported last night and a 46-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident. The case was reported from Hulhumalé.

Police are also investigating two other cases involving teachers: one where a teacher touched a student and threatened another, and another case where a teacher touched a student.

According to the police, both these cases were reported from two northern islands.

"A case was reported to the police this month alleging that a teacher in a school in an island under North Police touched a student, spoke inappropriately to the student, and threatened the student," the police said.

In connection with this case, a 54-year-old Indian national was taken into police custody today.

Additionally, police said another case was reported on the 15th of this month from another northern island, where a school teacher allegedly touched a student. Police have not yet disclosed whether anyone has been arrested in this case. It's understood that the teacher has been suspended.

These cases highlight ongoing concerns about child safety in educational settings and the importance of prompt reporting and investigation of such incidents.
