President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has announced that the Government will soon designate an island in Laamu Atoll for the development of a second airport.
During his visit to the atoll, the President highlighted that the new airport will be developed in a location that is both economically viable and suitable for tourism expansion. He emphasised that the project aims to create long-term economic sustainability while supporting the growth of the tourism sector by situating the airport near areas with potential for resort development.
The President also noted that eleven government-led projects planned for Maavah are progressing well and will be completed in the near future.
