Former Attorney General Ibrahim Riffath has been summoned for questioning by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) in connection with a case concerning state interests.
The case relates to a 2019 decision by the Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee (ATC) to award compensation to Swift Engineering Pvt Ltd.
Former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih described the summons as a series of attacks by the government to intimidate MDP members by exerting political influence on independent institutions.
President Yameen also called on ACC officials to avoid political influence that could undermine public trust.
In recent developments, former Finance Minister Ibrahim Ameer and former Economic Minister Fayyaz Ismail were also summoned by the ACC for questioning.
