President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has assured residents of Sh. Kanditheemu that government projects on the island will be completed efficiently and without causing public concern.

Speaking during his visit to Kanditheemu as part of his ongoing tour of islands in Sh. Atoll, the President reaffirmed the government’s commitment to fulfilling the pledges made ahead of the last presidential election. He stated that all planned projects would be implemented at a fast pace, with close coordination between ministries, state-owned companies, and local communities.

President Dr Muizzu announced that arrangements have been finalised to begin the construction of a multipurpose hall at Kanditheemu School. He also revealed that the government has decided to terminate the existing contract for the island’s health centre project, as progress had stalled. The project will be reassigned to a new contractor, with an agreement to be signed within the month. The new plan involves building a two-storey health centre with a 20-bed capacity.

In addition, the President said that the upcoming budget will include funds to improve the island’s football stadium. The planned works include building a perimeter wall, installing fences and lighting, and constructing a changing room.

President Dr Muizzu emphasised that the government remains dedicated to ensuring the timely completion of all development projects in Kanditheemu and across the atoll.
