Fayyaz Ismail, the Chairperson of MDP and former Economic Minister, has been summoned to the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) today.

Fayyaz was summoned to the ACC on suspicion of acting against the state's interests in a matter where the state could have benefited.

According to the summons sent to Fayyaz on the 9th of this month, he was involved in a 2019 decision by the Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee to provide adequate compensation to Swift Engineering Private Limited for damages incurred.

The summons alleges that Fayyaz, in his capacity as a committee member, misused his official position to provide undue benefits to Swift Engineering Private Limited, resulting in losses to the state.

On the day he received the ACC summons, Fayyaz posted on X stating that he had not misused his official position or acted in a way that would cause losses to the state.

Fayyaz stated that he does not believe the ACC will or can conduct a fair investigation.

He also said that those who conduct investigations under political influence and bias will be held accountable by law.
