Malaysia Airlines has begun operations from the new passenger terminal, Terminal 1, at Velana International Airport (VIA).
A special ceremony was held today to mark the commencement of Malaysia Airlines' services from Terminal 1. The ceremony was graced by Ibrahim Iyas, Managing Director of Island Aviation Services.
The event was attended by Ahmad Hanam Faiz, Malaysia Airlines' Station Head in Malé, along with senior officials and representatives from MACL and Malaysia Airlines.
According to MACL, during the ceremony, Malaysia Airlines officially opened its check-in counters and presented gifts to the 170 passengers departing on their flight. A special water salute was given to welcome the first Malaysia Airlines aircraft, MH485, to arrive at Terminal 1, and the 172 arriving passengers were greeted with a warm welcome accompanied by cultural activities.
Malaysia Airlines is the 10th airline to begin operations from Terminal 1. The airlines currently operating from Terminal 1 are Maldivian, Air Arabia, Beyond, Fits Air, Beijing Capital Airlines, Batik Air, Bangkok Airways, IndiGo, Gulf Air, and Malaysia Airlines.
MACL's goal is to provide the highest quality and most comprehensive service to all airlines traveling to the Maldives.
