Education Minister Dr. Ismail Shafiu has stated that teachers are the master builders of the nation and that they are the ones who work the hardest to pass on skills, good manners, and all positive attributes to future generations.

The Minister made these remarks in a video message sent on the occasion of Teachers' Day being celebrated today.

The Minister said that teachers should be people who work together to further advance the teaching profession and strengthen the process of education.

He also stated that there is no group more honorable, dignified, and respected in a country than teachers.

This year's Teachers' Day theme is "Recasting Teaching as a Collaborative Profession."

Highlighting this theme, the Minister said they are ready to strengthen teachers' relationships, provide assistance to teachers with the cooperation of all stakeholders and principals, and work towards increasing the necessary professional competence and advancement.

Schools across the country are holding various activities today to mark Teachers' Day.

More than 11,000 teachers in Maldivian schools are working to provide education.
