The Ministry of Finance and Planning has announced a call for a consultant to design and prepare a detailed master plan for RasMale'.

In an announcement made yesterday, the Ministry stated that they are seeking a consultant to design and prepare a detailed master plan for Ras Male', and have opened the opportunity for all qualified parties to submit an "Expression of Interest" (EOI). Interested parties should email their EOI to [email protected], with a copy to [email protected], before 14:00 on the 14th of this month.

The announcement stated that the main objective of this consultancy is to develop a master plan that adheres to Climate Risk Adaptive Island Planning Model principles, is environmentally sustainable, and economically self-sufficient. This plan is expected to facilitate long-term development and be strategically designed to address potential challenges arising from climate change.

RasMale' is being developed as an eco-city. The government has stated that RasMale' will be developed and branded globally as "Maldives Eco City".

According to the government, the entire Fushidhiggaru lagoon reclamation will cover 1,153 hectares. The land is being reclaimed to a height of 2.5 meters from sea level, with the center at 3 meters.

The project work is being carried out in 11 areas by two companies: Capital Marine and Civil Construction Company and Mohan Mutha Exports.
