Economic Minister Mohamed Saeed has stated that the benefits given to former presidents who encourage disruption of the country's peace should be cut.

Responding to former President and MDP leader Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's statement that the police used unjust force to disperse a peaceful gathering during last night's MDP protest, Minister Saeed criticized on X, saying that during President Solih's and other former presidents' administrations, specific areas and rules for protests were also established, and these are not new autocratic measures.

The Minister said that it was the MDP who deviated from the route agreed upon with the police.

"The salaries, office running costs, and security benefits of former presidents who repeat such lies and encourage disruption of the country's peace should be cut. These are outright major fabrications," Minister Saeed said.

Minister Saeed further stated that it is important for former presidents not to speak in ways that undermine the value of the police.
