President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stated that he will work towards finding a solution to the home stadium issue faced by the national team.
The President highlighted this during a special tea session held with the national football team to celebrate their recent success in the South Asian Super Cup in Sri Lanka, while speaking with the team's players and officials.
The condition of the national stadium has severely deteriorated, and it has been some time since the national team played a home match there. While the lighting system issues that arose in 2023 have been resolved, the seating areas are still not developed to a usable standard. The renovation work started by the previous government with Indian aid has also been halted.
Regarding these issues, the President noted that football is a sport the government prioritizes highly. Acknowledging the severe state of disrepair of the national football stadium, the President said he would look into making the best possible arrangements at the Galolhu stadium until a high-quality stadium can be built.
Additionally, the President encouraged the team for their upcoming qualification match. He urged the team to strive for victory in the match against Tajikistan. The President also assured that the team's allowances would be paid regularly and that the government would give special attention to these matters.
