Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has been requested to investigate allegations of corruption in the renovation of the hopper dredger, the largest land reclamation vessel operated by the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC).

In a statement, MTCC said that findings from its internal audit and board of directors indicated that Dubai Dockyard had spent more than the estimated cost of repairs carried out in 2022.

The company noted that previous audit reports had also revealed negligence concerning the interests of shareholders.

MTCC affirmed that it would extend full cooperation to the investigation and ensure that those found negligent are held accountable to shareholders.
