President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has announced that all outstanding payments owed by the Government of Maldives and state-owned enterprises will be cleared within the next five weeks.
In a statement shared on his official X account this evening, the President said that all pending obligations, including bills submitted in accordance with regulations, will be fully settled within the stipulated timeframe.
He noted that this covers payments for completed works by Maldivian businesses, including bills submitted since he took office on 17 November 2023.
President Dr Muizzu described the move as a major milestone in his Administration’s efforts to revitalise the economy. He stressed that settling these payments is a crucial step towards stabilising public finances and supporting the country’s economic recovery.
