Dr. Aishath Rameela of G. Aabin, who previously held the position of Minister of Agriculture and Animal Welfare, has been nominated to the Human Rights Commission of Maldives (HRCM) and her name has been sent to the People's Majlis for approval.

Dr. Rameela resigned from President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's cabinet on December 1, 2024, due to health reasons.

President Muizzu sent Rameela's nomination to the Majlis today as the term of current HRCM member Mariyam Muna is set to expire on November 30.

This matter has been forwarded to the Human Rights and Gender Committee of the People's Majlis for review.
