Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL), which operates Velana International Airport, has decided to give a bonus of MVR 25,000 to its employees for the past year and has begun depositing the money.
In previous years as well, the company has given an annual bonus of MVR 25,000 to its employees.
MACL's CEO Ibrahim Shareef Mohamed said that the decision to give the bonus this year was to recognize the hard work of the employees. He noted that the past year was one of the most labor-intensive years for the company's employees as they worked to open the new terminal on schedule.
The bonus for MACL employees will be based on their work over the past year.
MACL employs about 5,000 people. With the transfer of regional airports' operations to MACL, the company's scope has expanded, and it now has to operate additional airports.
