President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has inaugurated the Maldives National Service at a special ceremony held today at the Composite Training Centre in Maafilaafushi. He also presented the Flag of the Maldives National Service to mark the occasion.
In his speech, the President said the country’s true progress depends on raising a strong and responsible younger generation. He stressed that developing patriotic youth who value Islam and their national identity is more important than building infrastructure.
The Maldives National Service aims to train citizens to be responsible, disciplined, and resilient. The three-month programme includes lessons on citizenship, leadership, and language, as well as physical training, fitness, and discipline. Participants will also learn practical skills such as first aid, firefighting, and self-defence.
The ceremony was attended by First Lady Sajidha Mohamed, government officials, cabinet ministers, and MNDF officers.
