President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has emphasised the deep friendship between the Maldives and China, noting that it extends beyond agreements to shared experiences, trust, and genuine people-to-people ties.

Speaking at a reception to mark the 79th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and the Mid-Autumn Festival, President Dr Muizzu said this friendship is visible across the Maldives — in bridges that connect communities, housing that shelters families, and classrooms preparing young Maldivians for the future. He also noted that it is reflected in the thousands of Chinese visitors who continue to choose the Maldives as their holiday destination, strengthening tourism as a living bridge between the two nations.

The President extended warm greetings and best wishes to President Xi Jinping, the Government, and the people of China on their National Day. He praised China’s commitment to multilateralism, its role in championing developing nations, and its willingness to work alongside small states like the Maldives in creating a fairer global order.

Reflecting on China’s journey, he described it as a story of vision, perseverance, and the boundless potential of the human spirit.

Concluding his remarks, President Dr Muizzu said the Maldives looks forward to further strengthening its partnership with China in politics, trade, culture, education, and the shared aspiration for a sustainable and prosperous future.
