Applications have been opened for the member appointed by Parliament to the Maldives Media and Broadcasting Commission (MMBC).

The seven-member commission consists of three members appointed by the Parliament, two representing broadcasters, and two representing other media. The Elections Commission has now announced that applications for the vacant post will remain open until 12 October.

Applicants must not be active media personnel or editors, hold political posts, or be members of political parties.

Those convicted of crimes such as drug trafficking, child sexual abuse, fraud, or bribery are not eligible to apply. Similarly, individuals with business interests in communication media services are barred from holding the position.

Interested candidates are required to submit their application forms, along with identity documents, educational certificates, and relevant records, to the Parliament Secretariat before 12 noon on 12 October.
