Elections Commission (EC) has released the list of broadcasters and media outlets eligible to vote in the upcoming Maldives Media and Broadcasting Commission (MMBC) elections.
The election is scheduled to take place on 11 April, and applications for membership to the commission are now open. According to the EC, 353 media outlets are included in the voters list.
The Commission has also invited complaints regarding the list. Complaints can be submitted from 3:00 p.m. today until tomorrow, either via email to [email protected] or through the official complaint form, available on the EC’s website and at its office.
Currently, the Media and Broadcasting Commission is being overseen by a five-member temporary committee of civil servants appointed by the Civil Service Commission (CSC). By law, a permanent commission must be formed within 30 days of the appointment of temporary members.
The permanent body will include three members appointed by parliament and four members elected by the media.
