Criminal Court has sentenced former Managing Director of Fenaka Corporation, Ahmed Saeed, to four years in prison after finding him guilty of corruption.

Saeed was charged with misuse of official authority in connection with a project awarded to Blazon Inc Pvt Ltd in 2019. According to the state, he authorised the release of funds to the company without confirming that the project had been completed under the agreement between Fenaka Corporation and Blazon Inc.

The state argued that Saeed’s actions caused Fenaka Corporation losses of more than MVR 900,000.

The case was filed at the Criminal Court on 26 December 2024. Alongside Saeed, Fenaka’s former head of procurement, Mariyam Dheena Solih, Fuvahmulah, was also charged with the same offence.

While Saeed has now been convicted, the Auditor General’s report on Fenaka has revealed wider corruption issues within the company.
