The Th. Thimarafushi harbor development project has been awarded to MTCC.
The project was handed over to MTCC during a ceremony held yesterday in Thimarafushi, as part of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's tour of Th. Atoll.
The project agreement was signed by MTCC's Managing Director Ahmed Saudee on behalf of the company, and State Minister Hassan Rasheed on behalf of the Ministry of Construction.
The project was awarded to MTCC for MVR 113.56 million, to be completed within 540 days.
Thimarafushi, with a population of 3,000, is an island with many businesspeople and a growing tourism sector.
"Due to the current harbor's limited space, residents face difficulties in loading and unloading goods and accessing the island. We believe that upon completion of the harbor development project, the island will have a spacious harbor as desired by the residents," MTCC stated.
The project includes the following works:
Dredging 71,902 cubic meters of the harbor area.Construction of 644 meters of quay wall.Building a 203.50-meter breakwater.Installing 543 meters of revetment.Constructing 92 meters of groyne.Paving 3,200 square meters of area.Building a 40-meter long, 6-meter wide bridge.Installation of harbor lights.
