President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has announced that the construction of 100 housing units in Guraidhoo will begin next year.

Speaking at a function held in Guraidhoo during his visit to Thaa Atoll, the President said the housing units will be built on land allocated to recipients. He added that the Island Council will decide whether the units should be built in a designated area or on private land.

The President explained that the project can be carried out in both ways, with some units constructed in public housing areas specified in the land use plan, while others may be built as individual houses. The final decision will be made by the council after consulting the public.

In addition, President Dr Muizzu announced that seven hectares of land will be reclaimed in Guraidhoo as part of a land reclamation project scheduled to be signed tomorrow.
