The development and operation of Th. Vilufushi Airport has been entrusted to MACL (Maldives Airports Company Limited).

The handover of Vilufushi Airport's development and operation to MACL took place during a ceremony held today on the island, attended by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.

On behalf of MACL, the agreement was signed by CEO and Managing Director Ibrahim Shareef Mohamed. The Ministry of Finance was represented by Minister Moosa Zameer, who signed on their behalf.

According to MACL, under this project, Vilufushi Airport will be developed with a 1,800-meter long runway, a complete terminal, and all necessary facilities required for an airport.

During a meeting held with the residents of Vilufushi last night, the President stated that since the Vilufushi Airport is a very important project for Th. Atoll, the airport's construction will be completed and opened within two years and six months.
