President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has stated that one of his administration’s top priorities is to nurture well-informed and responsible Maldivian citizens, alongside advancing national development.

In his message marking the anniversary of the day the Maldives embraced Islam 898 years ago, the President reflected on the lessons drawn from this historic moment. He emphasised that for nine centuries the Maldives has remained a 100 per cent Muslim nation, and reaffirmed that no religion other than Islam will be permitted in the country.

The President said that just as the Government focuses on infrastructural development, it also places importance on education, the upbringing of students, and building a united nation that respects both religion and one another.

He noted that Maldivians have long been recognised for their hospitality, peacefulness, and cleanliness, and that the nation’s beauty is further enriched by Islamic values deeply rooted in society.

Looking ahead, the President said that next year will mark the 900th anniversary of the Maldives embracing Islam, describing it as the most historic occasion this generation will witness. He added that the administration plans to conduct nationwide activities to strengthen Islamic spirit, unity, and patriotism across the country.
