President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has assured that the long-awaited airport in F. Magoodhoo will be completed within the next 12 months.

He made the announcement on Sunday morning while addressing residents at the Magoodhoo Social Centre during his ongoing tour of inhabited islands across four atolls. Members of the Island Council, the Women’s Development Committee, and local residents attended the meeting and raised concerns about the delay in the airport project.

In response, President Dr Muizzu reaffirmed that all components of the airport would be completed within a year. He also highlighted other planned developments for the island, including the construction of a multipurpose school hall and a health centre this year, while the upgrading of the harbour has been allocated to next year’s budget.

During his visit, the President also inaugurated a Bank of Maldives (BML) ATM and took part in groundbreaking ceremonies for the Fitness and Recreation Centre, the Magoodhoo Island Council Secretariat, and a new police post.
