President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has announced that 12 hectares of land will be reclaimed in Felidheatholhu Fulidhoo, together with the harbour development project. He made the pledge during his visit to the island today, part of his tour of four atolls.

The President said the project would only move forward with full community support. He stressed that the Island Council must confirm residents’ approval before work begins. He added that reclamation would be carried out in a way that protects the island’s natural beauty, with practical work expected to start next year.

The President also announced that a US dollar ATM will be installed on the island before March. In addition, he inaugurated the Health Centre Extension Project, which will expand the facility into a 20-bed centre.

During the visit, he witnessed the signing of an agreement to build a volleyball court and confirmed that work on a futsal ground will begin later this year. Development works at Fulidhoo Harbour and new Bank of Maldives ATM services were also officially launched.
