Bank of Maldives (BML) has been selected to host the 42nd Asian Bankers Association (ABA) General Meeting and Conference in the Maldives in 2026. The announcement was made during the 41st ABA General Meeting and Conference, held in Bhutan from 15–16 September 2025.

This will be the second time BML hosts the regional gathering, following the successful conference held in Malé in 2018. The event will bring together banking leaders, executives, and policymakers from across Asia to discuss developments in the financial sector, including emerging opportunities and industry challenges.

At the Bhutan meeting, BML’s CEO and Managing Director, Mohamed Shareef, was appointed Vice Chairman of the ABA, further strengthening the Maldives’ role in the association.

The 2026 conference will feature panel discussions, workshops, and networking sessions aimed at promoting dialogue and cooperation among Asian financial institutions.
