The Criminal Court has sentenced a man to 25 years in prison and fined him MVR 100,000 for cannabis trafficking.

The court passed this sentence on Ahmed Azaan of G. Jellyfish.

The state prosecuted Azaan for cannabis trafficking after police, acting on intelligence information, entered the room where Azaan was staying in Jellyfish house, arrested him, and found drugs while searching various parts of the room.

Based on the evidence presented in this case, the Criminal Court ruled that Azaan is guilty of cannabis trafficking and sentenced him to 25 years in prison along with a fine of MVR 100,000, which must be paid to the Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) within 12 months.
