Criminal Court has sentenced a man to 25 years in prison and fined him MVR 100,000 for trafficking cannabis.

The court identified the accused as Mohamed Huzaif Luthfee of S. Hithadhoo. He was charged after police received intelligence on 8 June 2023 about his involvement in drug-related activities.

During a search of a room on the ground floor of his residence, officers discovered a large quantity of drugs.

Huzaif was found guilty of trafficking cannabis. Alongside his prison sentence, he was ordered to pay a fine of MVR 100,000 to the Maldives Inland Revenue Authority within 12 months.
