President Dr Mohamed Muizzu met with Qatar's Amir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, at the Sheraton Doha Hotel today.
During the meeting, President Dr Muizzu conveyed his condolences over the lives lost in the recent Israeli attack on Qatar and reaffirmed the Maldives’ solidarity with the Government and people of Qatar. He condemned the violation of Qatar’s sovereignty and expressed full support for its efforts to uphold regional peace and stability.
The President also commended Qatar’s leadership in convening the Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit and recognised its ongoing role in mediation efforts and humanitarian support for Palestine.
Discussions between the two leaders focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest. President Dr Muizzu expressed gratitude for Qatar’s continued support for the Maldives in numerous fields.
Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to deepening Maldives–Qatar relations and stressed the importance of unity within the Muslim Ummah. They reiterated their shared commitment to upholding international law and supporting a just and peaceful two-state solution for Palestine.
