People’s Majlis has scheduled an additional sitting for tomorrow, with three key items on the agenda.
President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has forwarded nominees for the posts of President and Vice President of the Civil Service Commission (CSC) to the Parliament’s Independent Institutions Committee for review. He has also submitted the name of the Vice President of the Human Rights Commission of the Maldives (HRCM) for parliamentary evaluation.
In addition, Parliament is set to decide on a report submitted by the Committee on Independent Institutions.
According to the Parliament Secretariat, tomorrow’s sitting will be held in line with Article 45 of the Parliament Regulations, which allows sittings outside regular sessions upon request.
The Majlis concluded its second session on 20 August and is currently in recess until the third term begins in October. Tomorrow’s sitting will be the second one held during the current recess, following a sitting on 27 August, and the fifth to be held outside regular sessions this year.
