The President’s Office has dissolved the Media Fenda effective today, citing repeated non-compliance with established guidelines. The decision was announced in Press Statement No. 2025-001.
Launched on 29 May 2025, the Media Fenda was created to strengthen engagement between the media and Government institutions by offering accredited journalists access to information and coverage opportunities. However, the President’s Office said the facility had not been used in line with regulations.
Although Official Passes were issued to nominated journalists, individuals without passes gained entry while posing as media representatives and repeatedly broke the rules. Accredited journalists also raised concerns about difficulties in gathering news.
The statement further noted that breaches of public safety regulations, disruptions to visitors in the Green Zone, and obstruction of news collection contributed to the decision.
Despite its dissolution, the President’s Office stressed that it and other Government institutions remain open to journalists for news coverage.
