Nasreena Ibrahim, the wife of former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom, has recovered and been discharged from the hospital.

Nasreena had been admitted to Dharumavantha Hospital since last week for treatment of an infection.

Her husband, President Maumoon, posted on X today saying, "By the grace of Allah, Nasreena's condition has improved and she has returned home from the hospital."

In a statement released last Thursday, President Maumoon's office said they happily acknowledge the care and attention of the doctors, nurses, and other staff of Dharumavantha Hospital in treating Madam Nasreena, and that President Maumoon and his family are very grateful for this.

The statement from President Maumoon's office also expressed gratitude on behalf of the family for the well-wishes and messages received from well-wishers and the general public, which have provided great comfort to the family.

Nasreena is currently 74 years old.
