The President’s Office has announced that applications are now open for the vacant seat at the Human Rights Commission of the Maldives (HRCM).

According to the announcement, applications will be accepted at the President’s Office between 8:30 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. on all working days, excluding public holidays. Application forms can be downloaded from the President’s Office website. The deadline for submission is 12:00 p.m. on Monday, 22 November.

The opening comes a day after two new members were appointed to the commission. Mohamed Shafeeq Mahmood and Ahmed Magsoom, were appointed following the expiration of the terms of former members Moomina Waheed and Shifaath Abdul Razzaq.

The term of HRCM President Mariyam Muna is also due to expire in November, signalling further changes in the composition of the commission.
