Hussain Fahmy, who was recently removed from his position as Managing Director of State Electric Company Limited (STELCO), has been appointed to a senior role in the President’s Office.

'One' has come to know that he will serve as Principal Secretary to the President on Policy and Manifesto.

Fahmy had worked at STELCO for more than 27 years and took over as Managing Director in November 2023. His dismissal was confirmed yesterday, after which former Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO) CEO Ahmed Shamah Rasheed was appointed to lead STELCO.

The President’s Office website lists 11 people employed at a minister level currently working under the office.

His departure from STELCO came amid speculation, although no official reason has been disclosed for his dismissal.
