The Civil Services Commission (CSC) has withdrawn its decision to count periods of service in state-run companies and institutions as part of civil servants’ official tenure.

In a circular issued on Thursday, the CSC had earlier announced that years of service in government-owned companies and state institutions could be included when calculating the total service period of civil servants. The notification also stated that such experience records would be updated in the “experience” section of CS View for current employees.

However, in a follow-up notification issued on Sunday, the CSC revoked the circular, stating that the matter would be reviewed further in consultation with the relevant authorities.

The commission has not yet announced when a final decision will be made.
