The female police officer, who was one of two people arrested with drugs during a joint operation by the Drug Enforcement and Police Intelligence in Malé on July 19, has been dismissed from her position.
Based on information received by Police Intelligence, Aishath Shiyaza (31) of Dilbahaarge, ADh. Kunburudhoo, and Saifullah Ahmed (26) of Hazaarmaage, HA. Dhidhdhoo, were arrested that day.
Of the two, Aishath Shiyaza is a police officer. The two were stopped and taken into police custody near the 'Viyafaariveringe Miskiyy'.
As Shiyaza is a police officer, the police said today that after the case was reviewed by the Police Disciplinary Board, it has been decided to dismiss her from her position.
According to the police, when the two were brought into police custody and searched, three rubber packets containing suspected narcotics and a prohibited medicine capsule were found.
