The Maldives will take part in World Cleanup Day celebrations this year, with events scheduled for 20 August in B. Kamadhoo.

The nationwide effort is being organised by ‘Let’s Do It Maldives’, which has been leading cleanup drives across the country since 2018. The organisation confirmed that preparations are underway to involve communities in the annual global campaign.

Last year, more than 20,000 participants joined the event in the Maldives, which was officially hosted in K. Dhiffushi.

World Cleanup Day brings together volunteers from around the world every year to promote environmental protection and raise awareness on the importance of keeping communities clean.
