The national carrier Maldivian has launched seaplane services to Kamadhoo, with the first flight landing on the island today. The service will operate every Thursday and Saturday starting from 11 May.
Two tourists who arrived on the inaugural flight were warmly welcomed by the island community. To make the service accessible for locals, Maldivian has introduced a special one-way fare of MVR 1,199.
The seaplane operations were introduced through a partnership between Island Aviation Services and Hawks Hotels Pvt Ltd.
During his recent visit to Baa Atoll, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu met with Kamadhoo residents and pledged to end the island’s long-standing position at the bottom of the development list. He assured that the government would bring equitable development to the island, with the seaplane service being a key step in that process.
Officials noted that the new service will boost local tourism and contribute significantly to Kamadhoo’s economic growth.
