Ministry of Islamic Affairs has announced that land has been officially handed over for the construction of two mosques in Hulhumalé Phase II.

An agreement for the handover was signed today between the Ministry and the Housing Development Corporation (HDC). HDC’s Managing Director, Ali Zuhair, signed on behalf of the corporation, while Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed signed on behalf of the Ministry.

According to the Ministry, one mosque will be built on Hulhumalé Lot No. 22,221, with a capacity of 2,000–3,000 worshippers on a land plot of 27,920 square feet. The second mosque, to be built on Hulhumalé Lot No. 22,242, will also accommodate 2,000–3,000 worshippers and occupy 20,720 square feet of land.

The Ministry stated that the construction of these mosques is part of efforts to cater to the growing population of Hulhumalé Phase II.
