President Dr Mohamed Muizzu, who is on a two-day visit to China at the invitation of President Xi Jinping, met with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit.

The meeting was confirmed by Prime Minister Modi in a post on X, where he said that discussions with President Dr Muizzu would benefit the people of both India and the Maldives.

President Dr Muizzu departed for China on Friday night to take part in the SCO Summit.

Prime Minister Modi had also visited the Maldives last July for the 60th Independence Day.
