Ali Suzain, who previously coached the Maldives national team, has taken over as the coach of New Radiant Sports Club.

Suzain is one of the most successful coaches in the Maldives. He confirmed to "One Sports" that he has taken over as the coach for New Radiant. Suzain said he is joining the club on a two-year contract and that New's project is one he's very interested in.

This will be the first time Suzain will be seen on New's bench.

Suzain was last seen working as the national team coach.

Suzain has worked with the national team alongside Netherlands' Martin Koopman and Italy's Francesco Moriero. When Koopman was dismissed, Suzain was the head coach of the national team for the 2021 SAFF Championship.

Later, in the 2023 SAFF Championship, Suzain, who was Moriero's assistant, took over as head coach when Moriero was dismissed. He voluntarily stepped down from the national coach position in June this year.

Suzain is a coach who has previously achieved many successes with New's rival Victory Sports Club. He has also worked with Maziya Sports and Recreation Club and Club Green Streets, and has won many trophies in his career.

Although New is currently in the second division, some football experts say there's a chance the club could be seen in the first division again. The club's chairman, Ahmed Mubeen, wrote on his official Facebook account a few days ago that big things are coming for New in the upcoming season and that they are preparing to hold a big event to announce these things.

An senior official from a club who spoke to "One Sports" said that New is working to come to the first division in place of Super United Sports (SUS) if SUS leaves the first division. This is because New is the runner-up team in the second division, and it's understood that efforts are being made to make this decision.
