Power has been restored to Malé and Hulhumalé after the completion of major work on the 50 MW power plant in Hulhumalé.

STELCO said in a press release last night that the 50 MW power plant in Hulhumalé was scheduled to be shut down from 6:00 AM to 10:00 AM today for essential major maintenance work.

STELCO announced today that the work at the Hulhumalé power plant was completed ahead of the scheduled time, with the engines loaded and power service in Malé and Hulhumalé returned to normal.

"With this, load shedding has been stopped, and power has been restored to all areas of Malé and Hulhumalé. We sincerely thank our customers for their continued cooperation in such matters. We apologize for any inconvenience caused," STELCO said.

STELCO's Managing Director Hussein Fahmy said that the major maintenance work on the 50 MW Hulhumalé power plant was successfully completed at 08:43 AM today.

The work was completed before the initially estimated time of 10:00 AM, and power was restored to all customers due to the efficiency and capability of STELCO's dedicated engineers and technicians.

"This is also due to their work ethic, passion for the job, and the noble spirit of serving the people and the nation. Therefore, I congratulate the entire team involved in this work," Fahmy said.

STELCO stated that the work carried out today is an important preventive measure to prepare for potential issues in power supply in the future.
