President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stated that 50 housing units for AA. Bodufolhudhoo will be included in next year's budget.

During his ongoing trip to Ari Atoll North, President Muizzu met with the people of Bodufolhudhoo today and said that housing is his top priority project.

The President said that when formulating the government budget, the highest priority is given to allocating funds for housing projects.

"The most important issue is is housing, it's the biggest problem across the Maldives, especially in populous islands. There isn't a housing project for this island in this year's budget," the President said.

"We will include 50 housing units in next year's budget to solve the housing issue of this island. God willing, we will start the actual work early next year."

The President mentioned that four hectares of land have been reclaimed in Bodufolhudhoo. However, for some reason, this reclaimed land hasn't been handed over to the island council, and due to this, the coastal protection project hasn't started.

He said the land reclamation was done by Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC), and the government has now decided to hand over the land to the council. After handing over the land to the island council, the President said they will include the coastal protection project in next year's budget.

The President noted that Dhigga Faru has now been included in Bodufolhudhoo's jurisdiction, stating that the government handed over Dhigga Faru to the people of Bodufolhudhoo for economic benefit.

The President said that according to the council, the economic plan for Dhigga Faru has been sent to the relevant authority, and the government will provide full support. Therefore, the President said the people should make full use of Dhigga Faru.

The President said that work on the school's multipurpose hall and classroom construction will begin within three months, and the government is working to start these projects even earlier if possible.

He also mentioned that they have decided to increase the capacity and facilities of the health center and build a new health center building.

The President said that the handball court is nearly complete, and the government is giving high priority to developing this sport. He added that MTCC will soon start installing lights on the football field, and a new futsal court will be built early next year, included in next year's budget.
