President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has announced that Maafaru Falhu will be declared part of AA. Feridhoo and developed as a picnic island to boost local tourism and the island’s economy.

The announcement was made during the President’s visit to Feridhoo, where a ceremony was held to hand over several development projects. The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) was awarded the project to build a boat beaching area and establish a picnic island. The agreement was signed by Infrastructure Minister Dr Abdulla Muththalib on behalf of the Government and MTCC Managing Director Ahmed Southee.

The President said the projects were part of his pledges and stressed the importance of ensuring development is carried out without damaging Feridhoo’s natural beauty or worsening coastal erosion.

At the same event, contracts were also awarded for the construction of Feridhoo School and the development of the island’s health centre.
