FitsAir has begun operations from the new terminal at Velana International Airport (VIA).
FitsAir is the fourth airline to start operations from the new terminal and the first Sri Lankan airline to do so from Terminal 1.
MACL (Maldives Airports Company Limited) said that a special ceremony was held today to mark the start of FitsAir's operations from the new terminal. The ceremony was graced by Ibrahim Shiury, Managing Director of VMC (Vits Maldives Corporation).
The ceremony was attended by MACL's Managing Director Ibrahim Shareef, Deputy Managing Directors Mujtaba Latheef and Mohamed Lamaan, board members, as well as Anah Qasim, Director of Fits Holidays, and Ibrahim Ameen Hassan Manik, Operations Executive of FitsAir.
MACL said that FitsAir's check-in counters were officially opened today, and gifts were presented to 71 passengers departing on the airline. A water salute was given to FitsAir's first aircraft to arrive at Terminal 1, and 154 passengers arriving on that flight were warmly welcomed with cultural activities.
FitsAir is Sri Lanka's largest private airline. FitsAir began flights between the Maldives and Colombo in 2022.
