The Jumhooree Party (JP) has stated that the comments made by former President Abdulla Yameen about JP leader Qasim Ibrahim and his sons in a program on "Adhadhu" newspaper are unsubstantiated.
The party says they are looking into what legal actions can be taken against Yameen regarding this matter.
In a message sent to the party's media group today, JP said they strongly condemn Yameen's statements.
"Former President Yameen, who built tall buildings that make you dizzy when you look up, brought suitcases of money into his own home, admitted on TV that it was illegal, and is suspected by many of money laundering, and who oppressed political figures and put them in jail cells during his presidency, has made unsubstantiated and false allegations about Qasim Ibrahim and his sons in a show hosted by Adhadhu newspaper's owner Hussein Fiyaz. In connection with this, JP's legal team is looking into what legal steps can be taken against Yameen, and we strongly condemn this," the JP message stated.
